Tony Fernandes Of Air Asia Starts Blogs

Dato' Tony Fernandes, 44, the CEO of budget airlines Air Asia has started blogging. He is one of the latest well known Malaysian personality to start blogging.

Tony Fernandes Blog called Tony Fernandes CEO Blog kicked off with its maiden post on 28 August last month.

Fernandes stated in his blog that it is where he plans to share his ideas, opinions and thinking on a many different of subjects.

Tony Fernandes' blog has a policy of only permitting only members to post feedback comments. Visitors will have to register as a member first, prior to being permitted to post any comments. This I think is a good way of acquiring visitor information for future promotions of his business.

In recent months many prominent Malaysian politicians has hopped on the blogging bandwagon to promote their ideas and opinions and non other than to establish a communication channel with the electorate.

It has yet to be seen if Tony Fernandes' blog will cause a trend to for CEOs and entrepreneurs in Malaysia if not the region to start blogging.

Last year Forbes ranked Tony Fernandes' at 24 amongst Malaysia's riches people. His personal wealth is estimated at US$230 million.

Tony Fernandes who is part Goan and part Malacca Portuguese in parentage, was born in Kuala Lumpur in 1964. He has worked for Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Records, companies owned by Sir Richard Branson prior to comming back to Malaysia to work for Warner Music (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

He holds a few prestigious academic and professional qualifications including a degree from the London School of Economicsand is currently a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Tony Fernandes rose to corporate prominence in 2002 when he managed to turn around ailing Air Asia which he purchased from a Malaysian government linked company in 2001.
