If you have read websites related to affiliate marketing, you may have seen expressions such as "make money while you sleep". Many wonder if these statements are indeed true, or just a trap by website owners to lure naive and unsuspecting buyers into purchasing their products.
The truth is, it IS possible to make money "while you sleep" by using affiliate marketing. However, and this is what many people don't get, is that it is NOT possible to "make money by doing nothing". Allow me to explain.
You can't simply sign up for an affiliate program and then go to sleep, hoping that money will appear in your account overnight. Just like with any business, it simply doesn't work that way.
It IS possible, however, to build a stream of autopilot income that requires minimal work on your part to keep it running.
Imagine you are promoting an affiliate offer in which you get paid every time a buyer makes a purchase by going through your affiliate link. Then, let's say you find a high traffic website that lets you buy ad space for a certain period of time--perhaps a week or a month.
At that point, you are able to place a banner promoting your affiliate link on the site, and watch the sales come into your affiliate account, while carefully monitoring progress, and if necessary, making minor adjustments to your ad campaign.
However, before you are able to accomplish this, you have to do the necessary research and testing. You will need to find an affiliate offer which will convert well, as well as find a good source of quality traffic that will send interested buyers to your site (rather than those who are merely just curious to see what it is about.)
Even if you are able to get some very profitable affiliate campaigns up and running, you will still need to take some time each day to be on the lookout for new offers to promote and new sources of traffic to use.
The good news is that affiliate marketing really does work. Once you get one or two sources of traffic and match them up to a good offer, you'll start to notice that your daily work is going down, while your daily income is going up. And yes, if you keep at it, eventually you will go to sleep and wake up to money in your inbox.
